a few things to think about for your session…

I am so excited to be capturing you and your loves in our upcoming session. I typically like to shoot in a relaxed way, I don’t give a lot of direction or posing - but love to capture the real connection and moments as they are happening in the moment - a capturing of what life is like at this time because time grief has taught me I don’t necessarily long for the photos where everyone has stopped moving and is staring at the camera cheesing but for the gentle way in which we moved, the chaos, the touch, the feeling of what it was. ( and I do love a good cheese smile every now and then - especially when there is missing teeth and messy faces and wild hair)

And I want you to get the most of our time together, so there are a few things to think about before we meet...

I love capturing connection: think how you are looking at each other, they way you interact, cuddles, piggy back, holding hands, nuzzling noses, kids climbing all over you, breast feeding- whatever stage of life you are in- the more you can be in close proximity interacting the more of those photos of connection I can capture

You can think of games you like to play with your kids or that they enjoy that brings them in close to you, to each other - flying them like airplanes, spinning together, driving trucks on you as you interact playfully, picking dandelions, laying in the tall grass...
I want you to think of things that are true and feel natural to you and your kids.

Lighting - high noon times will produce brighter colors, and sharper shadows and I love to shoot it - but if you are looking for less shadows or less contrast and more gentle lighting- think early morning or evening - and remember you know your kids so shoot when it works for you.

Location - I love to shoot at locations that have meaning for you, where you take your neighborhood bikes rides, your back yard garden, the field down the way- I can always suggest a couple places I am familiar with if nothing is standing out to you

Clothing - I will never tell you what to wear, pick things that feel like you, and what is authentic to your family, and be mindful if you are wanting a certain vibe - you don’t need new wardrobes look up some inspo if you feel called and look through what you have

I want your photos to evoke feeling when you look at them - memories of who you are, who your kids are, and what life felt like in this time - the totality of it - so i will often shoot through melt downs, and nose picking and pure chaos because that's truth in these times of life.
